Organization Description:
The Urban Teacher Center (UTC) is developing the most effective and accountable teachers in the nation - teachers who will work to transform learning for America's most underserved students. Before becoming eligible for program completion and certification, all UTC teachers will demonstrate that they can significantly improve their students' performance. All UTC residents are supported through a rigorous and comprehensive preparation program that includes a residency model, practice-based master's degree, additional certifications in core intervention models, and structured on-site support and coaching. The Urban Teacher Center provides a FREE dual master's degree. We seek individuals with a demonstrated track record of leadership, academic success and a commitment to being accountable for student success. Candidates must have a minimum of a 2.75 GPA, and they must have no more than 15 credits in education coursework or a teacher license. UTC looks for individuals who have a demonstrated commitment to or interest in public service, who have a relentless desire to improve educational outcomes for urban youth, and who have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
